May 22, 2003 - Monthly Meeting #76 Hyatt Regency Hotel Istanbul

This was the final meeting of 2002 - 2003 season. Mr. Kerem Gorsev who is worldwide known pianist was not able to attend as planned. He expressed his best regards to the members and promised to join to a meeting at the next season.
We spent very good time with Mr. Can Kozlu. He is well known jazz musician who plays drums. Besides, he is lecturer in Bilgi University, founder and the chairman of Jazz Chair (below)
Discussions were focused at the future of jazz music. Where the jazz music, actually the music goes, why good jazz music is not produced enough nowadays as before !
Besides the jazz music, we also discussed about music versus sound.
"What is the importance of sound (regenerated music at our homes) in music. Is it possible to listen good but very bad recorded music for audiophiles !"
We also learned that the musicians (performers) suffer from very similar subject. Mr Kozlu points out that when a performer listens music, he analyses the performance of the performers from profession point of view and can not focus enough to the music.
We would like to pass our thanks to Mr. Kozlu to be with us.
Our meeting continued with listening a system. Audiogen made a set up of very good SET system below;
The system was consist of Peak Consult speakers, Wavac single ended triode 35 Watts power amplifier, Wavac pre amplifier, Lindemann 680 SACD, Nirvana Audio SX Ltd Reference Cables. The system was may be the most expensive system set up in our club meetings.
Sometimes very good components are brought together but due to lack of synergy, system can not perform good sound. This was not the case with above system. The harmony among the parts of the system was such a good and we listened one of the best sounds in our club meetings.
100 Watts SET Monoblocks of Wavac is known as the most powerful Single Ended amplifier in the world. We also saw them but not listened. (below)
91 dB efficient, 6,8 Ohm flat impedance curve 25 Hz, 30 Khz frequency range Peak Consult speakers were very good match for 35 Watts SET Wavac especially considered within 250 m2 listening room.
